Who they are
BigTrends was founded in 1999 by Price Headley with a clear mission: help people become better, more successful options traders. Based in Lexington, Kentucky, the company offers a wide range of trading resources—from newsletters and bootcamps to live trading rooms and toolkits—designed to support traders of all experience levels.
When they first approached us in 2022, they were managing their main site (bigtrends.com) and their member site (members.bigtrends.com). With a growing client base and content offerings, they needed a reliable partner to help launch microsites efficiently and manage ongoing technical operations across their digital ecosystem.
The Problem
BigTrends was facing several key challenges:
- Microsite Scalability: They needed a streamlined process to spin up new microsites quickly while allowing for small branding variations and custom features.
- Performance Under Load: During peak trading hours, the sites—particularly the member portal—experienced spikes in traffic that the current server infrastructure struggled to handle.
- Security and Compliance: Protecting user data was a top priority given the sensitive nature of financial and membership-related information.
- Platform Growth: As the number of sites and tools increased, they needed a scalable backend approach that could adapt without sacrificing consistency or speed.
The Goal
BigTrends was looking for a partner to:
- Develop a repeatable, flexible microsite deployment system on WordPress
- Improve backend performance to support high-volume trading traffic
- Implement robust security measures across all platforms
- Establish a long-term relationship for ongoing maintenance and support
- Enable faster delivery of features and updates through modern workflows
The Solution
To meet their needs, we implemented a multi-layered strategy:
Microsite Customization and Optimization
We developed a flexible WordPress-based framework that allowed BigTrends to launch new microsites tailored to specific trading strategies and audiences. Each microsite could include unique layouts, content, and styling—while remaining consistent with the overall BigTrends brand.
Modular Architecture and Containerization
By adopting a containerized, modular development approach, we enabled fast, scalable deployment of each microsite. This made it easier to manage changes across the network while preserving the ability to customize where needed.
CI/CD Workflows
We implemented continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, allowing the BigTrends team to push updates, test features, and deploy changes efficiently and securely.
Performance Monitoring and Infrastructure Optimization
Using advanced monitoring tools, we identified and resolved performance bottlenecks to ensure consistent speed and reliability—even during peak user activity.
Enhanced Security Measures
We implemented encryption protocols, firewalls, and regular audits to secure sensitive data and protect against cyber threats—meeting compliance needs and maintaining trader trust.
Ongoing Maintenance & Support
Today, we continue to work closely with BigTrends as their maintenance and support partner. We provide regular updates, performance tuning, server optimization, and new feature development across their ecosystem—including bigtrends.com, members.bigtrends.com, and multiple microsites.
Our work ensures their digital infrastructure stays fast, secure, and scalable—so they can focus on what they do best: helping traders succeed.
